Captive Dove

Doves are commonly used as symbols of love, peace & freedom, with the statue pictured being a memorial to civilians killed during the London Blitz. The wide angle of view and depth of field of the pinhole camera are utilized to form a forced perspective with surrounding metal railings. This serves to produce an illusion of captivity, which inverts the dove’s traditional symbolism.

Captured with a ZeroImage 2000 pinhole camera on 120 roll film, exposing Kodak Tri-X 400, developed in Caffenol-C-H-UK, printed on expired Kentmere Kenthene Glossy.
