Captive Dove
Doves are commonly used as symbols of love, peace & freedom, with the statue pictured being a memorial to civilians killed during the London Blitz. The wide angle of view and depth of field of the pinhole camera are utilized to form a forced perspective with surrounding metal railings. This serves to produce an illusion of captivity, which inverts the dove’s traditional symbolism.
